Welcome to the Metabolomics Laboratory

The Metabolomics Laboratory, led by Dr Silas Villas-Boas, is part of the Centre for Microbial Innovation, based in the School of Biological Sciences at the University of Auckland. The Metabolomics Laboratory carries out research on microbial physiology with focus on metabolic mechanisms in living cells. Through a multi-disciplinary approach involving aspects of microbiology, biochemistry, chemistry and engineering, the group aims to develop new, cutting edge technologies used to gain insight into the mechanisms governing complex metabolic pathways relevant in industrial fermentation processes, human disease development and in food processes.

PhD and MSc Scholarships with the Centre for Microbial Innovation and Biotelliga Ltd.

We are seeking PhD and MSc candidates to work on natural fungicides within The University of Auckland’s Centre for Microbial Innovation (CMI). Projects will be focused on full genome sequencing and characterization of an antifungal-producing fungus (PhD) and the screening of biological active compounds produced by NZ-isolated microorganisms (MSc). This research will have broad implications in future product and process development for Biotelliga. Find out more >>>
